Jesus Christ, the Mediator Between God and Man
The relationship between God and humanity was broken by sin, creating a separation that no human effort could bridge. From the beginning, mankind has fallen short of God’s glory, as written in Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” This separation required a divine solution, and God, in His infinite mercy, provided that solution through Jesus Christ. He alone stands as the true Mediator between God and man, restoring what was lost.
The Scriptures clearly affirm this truth in 1 Timothy 2:5, “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” This declaration leaves no room for any other path or substitute. Jesus Christ is not merely a messenger or a prophet; He is the bridge that reconnects humanity to God. Through His incarnation, He took on human nature, and through His divinity, He remained one with the Father. In Him, both God and man meet in perfect unity.
The role of a mediator is to reconcile two parties, and Christ fulfilled this role perfectly through His sacrifice on the cross. Sin demanded judgment, but love provided redemption. As Hebrews 9:15 states, “And for this cause he is the mediator of the New Testament, that by means of death… they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.” Jesus shed His blood as the atonement for sin, satisfying divine justice while extending grace to all who believe.
Through Christ, access to God is no longer distant or restricted. Ephesians 2:18 proclaims, “For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.” This means that believers can now approach God with confidence, not in their own righteousness, but in the righteousness of Christ. The veil that once separated humanity from God has been torn, signifying open access through Jesus.
Moreover, Jesus continues His mediatory work even now. He intercedes on behalf of believers before the Father. Romans 8:34 declares, “It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.” This ongoing intercession assures believers that they are never alone, for Christ continually pleads their cause.
Jesus Christ, the Mediator between God and man, is the foundation of salvation and the source of eternal hope. Through Him, reconciliation is made possible, sins are forgiven, and a new relationship with God is established. This is not merely a doctrine but a divine truth that calls for faith, surrender, and a life devoted to Him.
