Where Will You Spend Eternity?
Life can seem long when we are young, but the truth is that our time on earth is limited. We make plans for tomorrow, next year, and even decades ahead, yet we rarely stop to ask the most important question: Where will I spend eternity?
The Bible teaches that eternity is real and that our lives have consequences beyond the grave. Jesus spoke about eternal life and eternal punishment in Matthew 25:46 (NIV): “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.” These words remind us that eternity is not something we should ignore or postpone thinking about.
God, however, does not desire anyone to be separated from Him. Second Peter 3:9 (NIV) says that the Lord is “not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” His desire is for people to turn away from sin, seek Him, and receive His mercy.
The good news is that God has provided a way to eternal life through Jesus Christ. John 3:16 (NIV) says that God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. Salvation is not something we earn through wealth, success, or good deeds. It is a gift received through faith in Christ.
Jesus also made the way clear when He said in John 14:6 (NIV), “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
The question, “Where will you spend eternity?” is deeply personal. No one can answer it on your behalf. We may not know how much time we have left, but we have an opportunity today to seek God and put our trust in Christ.
Eternity is too important to leave to chance. Choose Christ, follow Him faithfully, and live with the hope of spending eternity in the presence of God.
